A digital logistics control room showing UK and European transport routes being coordinated across shippers, warehouses, 3PLs and hauliers.

The Grocer names the problem. Agentic orchestration is the answer.

The Grocer has featured FLOX in a piece framing the UK transport market as riddled with structural inefficiency. The coverage matters because it names a systemic problem that a digital marketplace alone cannot fix.

Fragmented carrier networks, manual tendering and chronic empty running are not edge cases in UK logistics. They are the default. The Grocer's decision to frame its coverage around 'huge inefficiencies of the transport market' reflects a growing industry consensus that the status quo is a structural failure, not a run of bad luck.

The standard response has been to build another digital marketplace: move the phone call to a screen, add a rate card, call it progress. That model replaces one transaction layer with another. It does not change where decisions are made, how exceptions are absorbed or whether capacity and demand are actually matched well.

Agentic orchestration works differently. Rather than presenting options for a human to act on, it reasons across available providers, constraints and priorities to drive the decision itself. For a shipper managing multi-leg flows across UK and European networks, that distinction is operationally significant. Fewer manual touchpoints means fewer points of failure and fewer points of failure means the plan that leaves the system has a better chance of surviving contact with reality.

FLOX operates as a multi-party logistics marketplace with orchestration depth, connecting shippers, warehouses, 3PLs and hauliers. The Grocer piece gives a useful entry point into what that actually means in practice.
